April Community Meetup: Mobilizing Support & Donor-Relationship Building

About Event

Every month the Lightup Impact Community meets for its monthly community meetups. These are expert discussions from the community with the founders being the experts of the month.

We wish to thank our community members for attending our April community meetup and for their active participation! We had a very engaging session on Mobilizing Support and Donor Relationship Building with 31 Participants. A big thank you to our wonderful speakers who led our Expert Discussion: Salim Ali Mazang’ang’a from Path Youth Organization Kenya, Kenya, and Kaligirwa Bridget Kigambo from Girl Potential Care Centre, Uganda.

Some takeaways from the session:

Mobilizing Support

  •  Mobilizing Support is a process that requires getting many stakeholders in the community on board and using decision-makers to solve problems at the community level.
  • Analyzing the problem, who are the stakeholders, building relationships with decision-makers, and influencing policy-making and implementation are key steps in mobilizing support.

Donor Relationship Building

  • Good donor relationships are based on four pillars: Acknowledgement, Stewardship, Recognition, and Engagement.
  • Tips: use effective communication, attend networking events, align your work with the vision and mission of the partner and never forget to say thank you.
