Insights from Lightup Impact's First Community Meetup in 2024

Insights from our First Community Meetup 2024

In our first Community Meetup for the year, we discussed several important topics that will shape our community’s activities and expectations for the upcoming year.

Here’s a summary of what was discussed:

Joining our community

Our community welcomes grassroots organizations working with gender, health, and education. To be eligible, your organization should be 3-5 years old and have an annual budget of less than $20,000.

Join in 3 easy steps:

Step 1: Read more about joining our community here, and express your interest by clicking on the “submit your application” button. Please note that applications are only open twice a year:

  • 1-31 May 2024
  • 4 October – 4 November 2024

Step 2: Our team will review your application and reach a decision or contact you if any additional information is required to reach a decision.

Step 3: Attend an onboarding session to learn more about Ligthup Impact, our community, and how we can work together successfully.

Community Meetups

Our Community Meetups are private events that usually involve a catch-up session and are paired with an expert seminar. They provide an excellent opportunity for members to connect, share experiences, and learn from experts in the field.

A recent highlight was Bridget’s seminar, a transformative experience that provided valuable insights on setting and achieving goals. Her unique approach offers practical strategies for personal and professional growth in 2024.

Skills Development

Our Skills Development and Innovation for Impact Program is a collaborative initiative that supports community-based organizations and nonprofits in East Africa by building their skills and capacity, which are essential for their long-term success.

The program is designed to provide customized training, mentoring, and networking opportunities for our selected members based on their specific needs and goals.

The program will run from February to December and consist of:

  • 9 online training modules,
  • 2 on-site training sessions in Kenya and Uganda,
  • 2 exchange visits for the organizations to share knowledge and receive peer-to-peer support,
  • weekly coaching sessions, and finally,
  • a graduation ceremony in Eldoret.

The program has kicked off, with the first session on aligning work plans, budgets, and annual goals already delivered.

We invite you to embark on this learning journey with us. We’ll be making each module of the program available to the public on our Knowledge Hub.

Coming up next is “Theory of Change”.
