We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Financial Management Consultant to join our team and help us develop, create and curate  content on  Financial Management for Civil Society organizations.

The position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Consultant to develop a comprehensive Financial Management Training manual and a facilitators Guide tailored specifically for Civil Society organizations i.e NGOs and CBOs. All courses will be aimed at improving financial literacy, management, and overall accountability within the nonprofit sector. 


The project and the recruitment are conducted in collaboration with Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Main Tasks:

The Content Creator will play a crucial role in designing and developing an engaging and informative training module covering various aspects of Financial Management and procedures relevant to NGOs.

Key Deliverables:

  • Conduct a Research report outlining unique financial management needs and challenges faced by CSOs in East Africa.  May include light desktop research and an online survey sent to CSOs only. Light up Impact and KCDF will provide the contact list of the survey respondents
  • Develop an inception report which will outline key courses and sub-topics to be covered under the manual and preliminary overview of the guideline.  deliverables.
  • A training manual which will be a consolidation of different modules/curated course content on financial management for Civil Society Organizations. Each module will have key learning objectives and integrated learner assessment exercises.
  • A concise and aligned facilitator guide which will inform the trainer’s delivery process of the manual/courses. 

Other Key Considerations

  • Ensure that the content is comprehensive, clear, and accessible to a diverse audience.
  • Incorporate relevant case studies, examples, and practical exercises to enhance learning.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather input and feedback throughout the development process.

Your profile

Required qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFAor CMA) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop educational or training materials on financial topics,including roles in financial analysis,budgeting,risk management and strategic financial planning.
  • Strong research and analytical skills,tools and emerging financial technologies with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication  and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and multicultural environments.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with NGOs, particularly in the areas of financial capacity building, organizational development, or training.
  • Familiarity with participatory approaches to training and adult learning principles.
