Lightup Impact Days is our annual, two-day conference dedicated to empowering grassroots organizations and community-based initiatives across East Africa. It is an extraordinary event that passionately embraces community-led approaches, recognizing their potential to drive transformative change.

In alignment with our bottom-up approach and this year’s theme, “Shift the Power,” we aim to amplify the voices of grassroots leaders and our shared ambitions while fostering equity and complementarity in cooperation among social entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the region.

Lightup Impact and the East Africa Philanthropy Network Join Forces

Lightup Impact is delighted to partner with the East Africa Philanthropy Network (EAPN) to co-host their 2nd annual conference, Lightup Impact Days 2023. EAPN is the largest philanthropy support organization in the region and serves as a bridge connecting diverse philanthropic entities in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and beyond.

We are united by our shared vision of fostering sustainable communities through responsive and impactful giving. By collaborating on Lightup Impact Days 2023, we are amplifying our collective drive to ignite change and champion innovative solutions that advance philanthropy in East Africa.

Host

Lightup Impact amplifies the voices of over 100 grassroots organizations championing gender and health across East Africa. It embodies the essence of unity, weaving together over 100 members. They are turning global attention to local issues ensuring they are no longer in obscurity but lead global conversation on leadership and sustainability.

Co-Host

East Africa Philanthropy Network (EAPN) is a network that connects trust, foundations, grantmakers and non-grantmaker with the aim of promoting a culture of giving. With over 80 members and over 100 partners, they are creating a vibrant philanthropy that contributes to sustainable communities in East Africa.

Our goal is to challenge conventional top-down models and advocate for equitable partnerships that elevate local actors as true co-creators of their development journey.

What sets our event apart and makes it truly special is its unique approach as a community-led project. We place grassroots leaders at the forefront of the discussions, ensuring their voices, experiences, and perspectives shape the direction of our collective journey towards positive change.

Through interactive sessions, dynamic workshops, and thought-provoking discussions, we will explore the power of community philanthropy and the principles of subsidiarity.
